How to Copy and Rip DVD to Plex Media Server for Streaming

How to Backup and Rip DVD to Plex Media Sever

1. Add DVD movies

Install and launch DVD Ripper program, and then click the disc icon to import your source movies to this program. Set your wanted subtitles and audio track from the drop-down box of “Subtitles” and “Audio” tab.

2. Select an output format

Click the “Format” option, and choose HD Video > MKV HD Video(*.mkv) as output format. You can also select H.264 HD Video (*.mp4) for Plex Media Server.

Or backup DVD with Main Title only and original structure for storage.

Tip: If you like, you can click “Settings” to change the video encoder, resolution, frame rate, etc. as you wish. Keep in mind the file size and video quality is based more on bitrate than resolution which means bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss, and vice versa.

3. Start ripping DVD for Plex Media Sever

Click the "Convert" button under the preview window, and the DVD ripper will start the conversion from DVD movies to MKV or MP4 for Plex Media Sever. After conversion, you can stream DVD movies through Plex Media Server to HDTV or iPad, Galaxy Tab, or other DLNA-compliant devices.
